Our Little Story
The best part about traveling is talking to locals and learning about their traditions and folklores. I stayed at a villa in the Philippines one summer and notice a strong scent next to the villa. I asked the villa housekeep about the scent. We sat down and she told me an amazing story about a noble man and his wife. The noble man could have anyone he wanted, but he fell in love with a maid. During his time, it was uncommon for a noble person to marry someone outside of his/her own status. The noble man and his wife, Dama, were in love and lived happily. Dama had the habit of putting on a sweet fragrance every night to sooth the noble man before going to bed. Over time, the noble man spent most of his time away from home because Dama could not give him an heir. Dama continued to use the sweet fragrance even when her husband was away. Eventually, Dama got sick and passed away. The noble man became very sad and rarely left the house. One night, he smelled the same fragrance used by Dama. He went around the house looking for the scent and discovered a beautiful white flower on the balcony with the glow of the moonlight in the background. The noble man was convinced the flower was Dama, he never left the flowers side and passed away embracing the flower now known as the Dama de Noche.
This is a tribute to Dama de Noche and I hope to remind couples to not over look happiness for it could be your biggest regret. The flower is arched like a flask of perfume and the big clear crystal is the moonlight behind the flower. It is not important whether the story is true or false. The important thing is to remember the meaning behind the story.
